Sarah's Educational Leadership E Portfolio

As a dedicated teacher, I constantly seek opportunities to enhance my skills and knowledge to support students and families and positively impact education. That is why I have decided to further my education by pursuing a graduate certificate in educational leadership. This program will provide me with the necessary expertise and tools to continue making a difference in the lives of my students. I am excited about the prospect of gaining new insights and techniques that will enable me to create a more engaging and effective learning environment. By constantly learning and growing, I am confident I can contribute to advancing education and ensure that every student I encounter receives the best education and support. The artifacts contained in this portfolio reflect this goal and my passion for quality leadership.

About

My name is Sarah Hargadine. Throughout my 18 years of teaching, I have held various positions and job titles. My undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education, and my master's is in Early Childhood Education. I also have secondary licensing certifications in Language Arts and Social Studies. I began my career in Elementary and Preschool Special Education classes. As I had children of my own, I started looking for something more flexible, and I currently work as an online educator at Boulder Universal Online School in Boulder, Colorado. I have held this position for ten years, and I have taught a variety of ages and subjects, including the elementary grades of second, third, fourth, and fifth grade, in addition to several different secondary courses, including Fitness, Health, and middle school and high school Social Studies, and Language Arts classes. I enjoy things about teaching all age ranges, and I love working with each demographic for various reasons. I also have a passion for teaching online and appreciate the work-life balance it provides for my family.

I live in Mead, Colorado, with my husband, Joe, and our two boys, Everest (9) and McKinley (8). We enjoy being outdoors, and you can often find us camping, sledding, hiking, four-wheeling, and horseback riding. We also enjoy traveling and seeing new places and look forward to doing more as our boys age.

In the past, I have worked as a teacher-leader in support positions such as our district Multi-Tiered Systems of Support liaison and as a committee chair for various school programs like credit recovery. This has allowed me to write district curriculum and lead professional development courses. As I move forward with this program at CSU Global, I plan to develop my leadership skills to further my goals of eventually working in curriculum leadership and development for our district. I truly thrive on creating a curriculum that is equitable, accessible, and engaging for all learners, and I would love to hold a district-level role that supports this passion.
